Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by affecting predominantly woman of childbearing age in a chronic, relapsing-remitting course. It is also notable for its clinical heterogeneity which, together with the potential severity of these manifestations, makes the management of SLE a real challenge for the clinician.
