Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide and is particularly prevalent among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) [1]. The close bidirectional relationship between thyroid function and hepatic metabolism has raised increasing interest in a potential role of thyroid hormone homeostasis in MASLD. Thyroid hormones, particularly free triiodothyronine (FT3) , regulate hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism, while the liver is critically involved in the activation, transport, metabolism, and clearance of thyroid hormones [1,2]
