Preeclampsia (PE) represents a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, and a risk factor for future maternal cardiovascular disease [1]. Therefore, there is a crucial need to characterize the risk factors contributing to both preeclampsia and future cardiovascular events. Environmental determinants, particularly air pollution, have attracted growing attention. Air pollutants penetrate the maternal bloodstream, reaching the placenta and increasing offspring risk of adverse health outcomes [2].
