Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of recurrent hospitalization [1,2]. Current European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines define HF with reduced EF (HFrEF) as HF with EF < 40%, HF with preserved EF (HFpEF) as HF with EF ≥ 50% and propose a new classification for patients in the "grey area", i.e. HF with mid-range EF (40–49%).
