Takayasu arteritis (TAK) is a chronic systemic granulomatous vasculitis that mainly affects aorta and its major branches in young women [1]. The inflammatory damage of arteries can develop progressively and ultimately cause ischemia of related organs and even life-threatening events [2]. Much heavier disease burden of TAK has been noted in some Asian regions including China than western countries.
