Antimicrobial resistance is a growing global concern and represents a major threat to public health [1]. In response, many countries have implemented guidelines aimed at promoting the rational use of antibiotics. In 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the AWaRe —Access, Watch, and Reserve— classification system, which categorizes antibiotics according to their clinical importance and the potential risk of resistance [2]. The goal of WHO recommendations is to reach 60 % of total antibiotic consumption being Access group, characterised by their narrow spectrum of activity, fewer side effects and a reduced likelihood of antimicrobial resistance.
