Frailty is common among patients with advanced chronic liver disease (AdvCLD), progressively impairing physical fitness as the disease worsens [1]. It is characterized by reduced physiological and homeostatic reserve and heightened vulnerability to health stressors, reflecting cumulative decline across multiple organ systems and progressive physical deconditioning [2]. Frailty, assessed through the performance of physical tasks, affects approximately 20–25 % of AdvCLD patients [1,3]. The liver frailty index (LFI) is a widely validated tool for assessing frailty in patients with AdvCLD.
