We thank Messina for his insightful comments on our recent article describing a novel Neuro-ICU-Neurorehabilitation Unit (INRU) co-management model for patients with severe acquired brain injury (sABI) [1,2]. His letter highlights important considerations regarding the clinical impact of intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW), including critical illness polyneuropathy and myopathy (CIPNM), in this patient population [2]. We fully agree that CIPNM may significantly influence functional recovery, rehabilitation trajectory, and prognosis in patients with sABI.
