Dankl et al. provide a valuable frailty-adjusted analysis of sex and 30-day mortality in older critically ill adults, and the combination of frequentist and Bayesian estimates is a particular strength [1]. However, the interpretation may benefit from more caution regarding the adjustment strategy. The multivariable model adjusts not only for age, pre-admission frailty, and SOFA score, but also for invasive ventilation, vasopressor therapy, renal replacement therapy, and treatment-limitation status [1].
