Individuals with psychotic disorders treated with antipsychotic drug classes are at high risk for developing overweight/obesity and related cardiometabolic complications, resulting in excess morbidity and mortality, along with further impairment of quality of life, in that population [1,2]. Besides weight gain, which may significantly vary, use of antipsychotic drug classes is also associated with major disruption of glucose homeostasis, resulting in hyperglycemia regardless of exposure time, dosage, underlying diagnosis or observed weight gain [3].
