Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is the common complication of intensive care in the critically ill patients. Despite thromboprophylactic measures, its incidence ranges from 5 to 32% [1]. One of the possibilities how to diagnose DVT in intensive care unit (ICU) early is the screening of DVT in selected patients by ultrasound compression test (UCT) [2]. Because it is easy-to-use, fast and safe examination method, general ICU nurses could be given competence to perform UCT potentially.
