Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that was diagnosed in late 2019 in Wuhan (China)[1]. It has spread rapidly worldwide, affecting millions of people, acquiring the category of a pandemic in early April 2020 by the World Health Organization. The patients most vulnerable to the disease are those with chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease [heart failure (HF), ischemic heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM)][2,3].
