Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, frequently associated with other conditions such as diabetes mellitus [1,2], and confers major healthcare costs [3]. Given the increasing number of AF patients with multi-morbidity, these patients should be managed with a holistic or integrated management approach to AF patient care [4]. Such an approach has been associated with improved clinical outcomes [5,6].
