An 80-year-old woman presented to the emergency department (ED) with acute sternal pain that began after removing her compression stockings. Three days earlier, she experienced a similar episode marked by a cracking sound over the sternum and progressively worsening pain. The severity of the pain ultimately required ambulance transport and oxycodone.
